| February 3 | Fairy Tales And Legends | Legends generally are about human actions that take place with in human history. Fairy Tales include fantastic creatures and take place in “once upon a time.” |
| March 2 | Self-help Books | Self-improvement, personal transformation, mental health, physical well-being, relationships, work environment, handyman...etc. |
| April 6 | Travel Narratives | Author touring a place for the experience of travel--region, nation, globe, universe. Plane bus, train, feet, donkey, car... |
| May 4 | Redo Genre Fiction (since we missed it...) | Fantasy, Science fiction, Horror, Romance, Mystery,Western, Thriller Historical fiction, Etc. |
| June 1 | Mythology | Broadly--a belief system. Try something new--Greek, Roman, Norse, Native American, Hawaiian, Chinese... |
| July 6 | Repeat A Favorite Theme From Last Year | Previous themes: Short Stories, Best First Line/Paragraph, Autobiography/Memoir/Biography, Children’s Book, Food, Letters/Journals, Made into Movie, Nature/Environment, Poetry, Prize Winner, Translation. |
| August 3 | Plays | A musical, a one-act, reader’s theater, or a full-length play. Shakespeare to Pinter. Try to imagine how you might stage it--setting costumes, etc. |
| September 7 | Plain Old Fiction | Best sellers, contemporary fiction, literary fiction. Books that are not, for the most part, genre formula. Most take place in present time. |
| October 5 | Classics | What makes your choice a classic? What is a classic? |
| November 2 | Chosen For Title Or Cover | Did a title make you wonder? Were you intrigued by a jacket design or image? |
| December 7 | Books On Your Shelf That You Should Have Read By Now | Let me know if you need to borrow one... |
| January 4, 2013 | First Novels | Author’s first written or published work. |
